What Causes Recurring Bouts Of Sulphur Belching, Stomach Cramping And Diarrhea?

I am a 40 year old male, who keeps having reoccurring bouts of rotten egg/sulphur belching, followed by stomach cramping and diarreah. I m on daily Pantoprazole and ranitidine daily, no other meds taken, but this keeps reoccurring roughly every two weeks over the last couple of months. The gastroenterologist has only diagnosed me with irritated lining. Any thoughts?

Hi

Repeated episodes of reflux or gastritis symptoms in the absence of any major finding in gastric endoscopy can occur due Helicobacter pylori infection. It is a bacterial infection which can cause gastritis when left untreated for a long duration. Multi-drug regimen containing 3 to 4 antibiotics should be taken to reduce the infection.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
