What Causes Recurrent Seizures?

My daughter had two seizures separated by more tha 24 hours ( about 7 months apart) an EEG and MRI are scheduled but not done; the doctor immediately prescribed Keppra; this seems too much like CYA rather than rational use of a drug to control a known something. Am I being too critical? Moreover, the first incident can be linked to severe pain and the other to a drug with fainting as a side effect. Is the doctor s prescription the logical choice the reasonable choice?

Hello welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

You have been prescribed levetiracetam drug which is used for tonic clonic and partial seizure which are common variety nowadays. You can continue this medication. But I suggest you to investigate with EEG as well to decide type of seizure and further management.

Hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
