what could be possible causes for recurring fever up to 102-103 with no other symptoms in an 11 month old girl. She has some congestion and currently has 6 teeth already. she is usually happy but lately has been lethargic with the fever which comes and goes. This is going on for about 2 weeks and has been brought to the doctor about 3 times with no answers except give her some Tylenol.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Did she have any difficulty in Micturation or she always cry during or before Micturation?

Does fever comes and wanes off every day or every 2 to 3 days or she has any laboratory investigations?

If not, then do the following:
-Peripheral blood smears for malarial parasite
-Routine blood counts
-Urine routine and microscopic examination
-Stool routine and microscopic examination

The Above investigations will identify most common reasons for fever in children that are UTI, Typhoid, and Malaria.

Other common causes are measles and mumps in which there are skin lesions and cheek swelling respectively. So, they should also be ruled out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
