What Causes Recurrent H.Pylori Infection?

Hi, i have had recurring H.Pylori since 2008, 4 episodes. My last treatment caused a rash, so was ended before completion, however a urea breath test a month after registered negative. I have been called in to take another breath test (i suspect the test may have been marginal). Since the newest episode in June, i continue to feel lethargic, lack an appetite and experience left side abdominal discomfort. I have lost about 5-7lbs. this episode. I am looking into probiotics and other diet changes to help heal and avoid further episodes. Are there reliable sources of guidance for this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, i can understand your concern.
H.pylori infection is the most common cause for ulcers in stomach. i would suggest you to get an upper g.i endoscopy along with the urea breath test. this will show us the presence of ulcers or mucosal damage. A rapid urease test during the procedure will confirm the H. Pylori infection.
You will have to take a course of antibiotics and antacid( proton pump inhibitors) for total treatment of the infection.
Kindly consult a gastro enterologist for further guidance.
Hope i have answered your query. Have a nice day
