What Causes Rectal Bleeding?

Hi, I am a 22 year old male. Over the past few months I have been getting small amounts of blood when wiping after going to the toilet due to excessive wiping as my poo is not always very solid. I ve tried being very gentle and using baby wipes when wiping to stop further irritation around my anus but I still get small amounts of blood when wiping and sometimes I get itching around the anus as well. From looking at the area with a mirror it does look very red and inflamed. I m not comfortable going to a doctor so is there anything I can do at home myself?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think the bleeding can be caused by haemorrhoid. Keep the area dry and clean. Use stool softeners not to be constipated. You can find ointments over the counter that can be used for hemorrhoids.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
