What Causes Rattling Sound In Chest While Coughing?
My 30 yr old daughter has been having recurrent strep and is now on a 21 day regimen of amoxicillin, has had a cough but now it appears worse. nose is clogged sometimes, mucusy others. Her ENT has prescribed a Rx for possible silent acid reflux, but the cough persists, perhaps getting worse. Cough does not produce much mucus but she can hear it rattling. Should I drag her home and bring her to an ER?
Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have symptoms of rattling sound in chest while coughing which is due to pneumonia or bronchitis. Need not to worry. It normally occurs in pneumonia. I would suggest you to take decongestant drops like sinarest along with cough syrup. You should visit pulmonologist once and get it examined. You should go for pulmonary function tests as well to check exact level of infection. You need inhaled bronchodilators and antihistamine drug. You should take cough expectorants as well. You should use mist humidifiers in room.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
