What Causes Rashes On The Lower Back After A Body Massage?
Hi, I had 5 deep-tissue massages in a row, speeded it up due to holiday trip. After three massages I got a rash on my back. Small red dots, not bumpy. Mostly it is lower back where she massaged more agressively. Last night I slept on the side and did not feel it much. In the morning with activity and minor perspiration I feel it itching.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Sunder stand your concern. Itching, red rash on the back after an extensive massage..can be caused by allergy to the oil used for massage.
The rash would go after stopping further massages with the same oil. More speedily with a local application of steroid skin ointment on the rash along with oral antiallergic drug (cetirizine).
If it does not record after 5 days of the home management, please consult a skin specialist for Additional medication as per need.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
