Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Rashes On The Face And Temple While On Nitroglycerin?
my mother in law is 93. she has some dementia; recently suffered a broken hip; has an aide for 40 hours a week. She has had bypass surgery in the past (12 years ago?) & has been prescribed nitrogliceren (Sp) for breathing. in the last 2 days a rash has begun to appear first at the temple area on the right side of her face. today the rash has spread down her jawline and across to the middle of her forehead. She denies having used any new cream, etc.
At the age of 93 with nitroglycerin, rash is not common with the use of it. Nitroglycerin may cause headache, weakness, dizziness etc. It may be due to dermatitis, eczema or scabies related. Past history of bypass surgery and other ongoing drug may have rash as a side effect. But have to look in details for that. I think it will go on its own within 7 days.
I hope I solved your query and I will be here for future help.
Regards,
Dr. Nirav Nimavat
