Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a rash that started at the base of my hair line a over 3or 4 days spread up to almost the top of my head and to my neck and chin area after about 3 days.it also feels like little needles are sticking in my scalp.blood work says its not shengles.what could this be?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of rashes on scalp, neck and chin area which occurs when there is skin allergy or contact dermatitis and when pore in your skin gets clogged, usually with debris, bacteria and dead skin cells. It could be due to hormonal change during puberty , androgen hormones stimulate more sebum to be produced and a greater amount of skin cells to proliferate. I would suggest you to apply ketoconazole on scalp and do oil massage of scalp to prevent hair loss. You should take more roughage in diet and diet rich in fibers. Take diet rich in multivitamins. Take antihistamine medication. If condition doesn't improve in a week then consult dermatologist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe proper antibiotic course.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
