What Causes Rapid Heart Rate In A Type 2 Diabetic Person?

I m an insulin dependent type 2 diabetic who for the last several months have been having a rapid resting heart rate, typically 110 to 145. My gp put me on metoprolol 25mg half in morning and other half in evening. The past 4 days, I ve noticed that my feet and ankles have been swelling. I have an appointment a week from Thursday with a cardiologist to have an echocardiogram done, but I just wondered if I should try to get in earlier?

Thank you for followin up. There are different causes of your tachicardia:

1.Anaemia of diabetic patients. Please check your Hb, follow diet riched iron(spinach, sesame seeds, peas, cocoa, apples, pomegranates, buckwheat)
2.Lack of potassium, add products riched potassium(carrot, potato).
3.Side effects of metoprolol, but dosage is normal.
And of cause,consult your cardiologist.
Take care
