What Causes Range Of Motion To Be 107 Post Knee Replacement?
I had a knee replacement 13 weeks ago and my range of motion is 107. I go back to my orthopedic surgeon on Wednesday. I am afraid that they will have to go in an do an manipulation. Would it benefit from me to continue the pt or should I let the surgeon do the manipulation?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
A range of motion of 107 degrees 13 weeks after knee replacement surgery is considered fair to good, but it is still less than the normal range of motion for a knee joint. It is important to continue with physical therapy to improve the range of motion, strengthen the muscles around the knee joint, and reduce pain and swelling.
However, if physical therapy is not producing the desired results, your surgeon may recommend manipulation under anesthesia. During this procedure, the surgeon will manually move your knee to help break up any scar tissue that may be limiting your range of motion. It is important to discuss your concerns and treatment options with your orthopedic surgeon.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
