What Causes Prolonged Periods?

Hello, I have been on coumidin since early July for DVT. I was up to 15 mg daily, now down to 10mg. My INR is 2.6 at last appt. My question has to do with menstrual cycles. It wont stop.. Been 3 weeks now.. sometimes it gets really light and I think YEA.. then before I know whoosh.. there it goes again.. Is this normal? How long will this continue?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Coumadin can cause heavy bleeding because it’s a drug used to prevent blood clots. You can consult a physician and taper the dosage of Coumadin. Once you have weaned off from Coumadin, your periods will get back to normal flow.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
