What Causes Prolonged Menstruation After A C-section Delivery?

Hello, I had a C-section on December 20th 2016. I had an IUD inserted in March. Since then I have had extremely abnormal periods (it lasts much much longer than it used to) and I keep having random sharp pains in my sides. Is it from the C-section or the IUD? How do I know if something is wrong with the IUD?

Hi, I think it can be due to IUD. It is common to have heavy bleeding and cramps in first few months after inserting IUD. You can take some medicines like Tranexamic acid and mefenamic acid to stop the bleeding. You can take some pain killers also. Get yourself examined by a gynecologist to see that IUD is in place. You can yourself feel the threads of it by inserting one finger high up in the vagina.
