What Causes Prolonged Light Vaginal Bleeding And Breast Pain Post Abortion?

I had an abortion last Monday and my breast have been really painful and I have just looked down and my top is wet I looked at my breast and milk is coming out even without touching. I have also no had any bleeding since the abortion and is been really light brown discharge nothing to much to worry me Is this normal am I normal ?

Hi. Please donot worry. This is nothing out of place. Milk secretion will reduce over a period of next 7 to 10 days. What you need to do is , gently extract milk from both your breasts at least twice a day. You may do so, by supporting your breast below and then gently squeezing the breast with the other hand.

You may also purchase a vacuum pump device for extraction of milk. It is freely available on line. But , if you can use the above method, it wont be necessary.

Extraction of milk from breasts is a must, since otherwise you may experience pain due to engorgement of breasts. Also, damming up of milk inside the milk ducts can lead to swelling and infection.

Brownish discharge post abortion is normal. I would be worried if there was some active bleed or fever.
