What Causes Progressive Pain In Joints?

For the last couple years I ve been experiencing pain symptoms throughout my joints, my muscles. Initially my GP thought it was tennis elbow. Tendinitus. It happened on one arm and then proceeded to the next. It has since gone to my legs. My doctor clarified it isn t RA, considering all the blood work results and this last trial of taking Prednisone for 5 days to see if that helps. It doesn t help in the slightest. So now I m waiting to see what we check next. I m feeling almost as if I can t walk and my legs are going to give out, it was difficult to climb my stairs. I m interested in your perspective. Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are suffering from pain throughout your joints and muscles. You are having difficulty in walking and climbing stairs. Your symptoms are indicative of fibromyalgia, gout, lupus, Lyme disease, osteoarthritis, osteoarthritis, RA, etc. Get clinically examined by a GP, get all required blood tests, investigations and imaging tests (X-rays, CTs, MRIs, Ultrasounds, etc.) done.

In these imaging scans, signs of joint damage, bone and cartilage erosions as well as narrowing joint spaces can be studied. Get repeat tests for Rheumatoid factor also done, get CCP, anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide, CRP-C-reactive Protein and Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) done.

Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected, disease diagnosed and the degree of severity of the pathology and symptoms detected. Get examined and evaluated so that treatment can be started at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
