Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Profuse Sweating In An Elderly Person?
I sweat even when its cold and no exertion. Sometime it is so embarrassing. I am past menopause. What can I do about the sweating all the time? This has even effected my groin around my groin. I have red rashes on both sides. I have been using an anti fungi crème to take away the itch and some relief. I do take meds for BP and RA.
I am so sorry to hear about this and all the disturbing thoughts this caused you. Profuse sweating occurs when we have a malaise.
If this is a one-time observation, then it most likely of no pathological significance or represents any disease process.
However, if this is of a repetitive nature, then we would need to probe further.
For now, monitor and report any future episodes for investigations and management. if none show up again, there is no need to continue getting worried by this.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
