What Causes Profuse Sweating And Chills After Being Bitten By An Insect?

Hello-I was bitten by an insect, possibly a spider behind my ear 12 days ago and had intermittent chills and sweats. Subsequent removal of neck lymph node and muscle tissue due to infection. I have been on clindamycin for ten days. I am experiencing drenching head and neck sweats and jaw tenderness above surgical site. Is the infection still brewing ?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history of insect bite, my treatment advice is -

1. Wear full sleeve clothes to avoid further such episodes.
2. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7-10 days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
