What Causes Positive VDRL Test Report?

Hello doctor, 2006 vdrl weakly reavtive but back 2002 lt was negative.. I dont know how it happen l never had sex to anyone. And now l already have family a mother with 3 children. I ve done 3 times vdrl test and its positive.. is it curable and how about my children? Does it mean l will pass it to them?

Hello,

Yes, syphilis is curative doses with the antibiotic course. VDRL is a non-specific test for syphilis. For confirmation of syphilis treponema pallidum haemagglutination (TPHA) like specific test should be done. And if syphilis confirmed, then penicillin group of drugs or azithromycin or doxycycline can be prescribed for that. Consult a physician for examination and discuss your case.
