Hi..

As per your complain clogging and congestion in ear when climbing at high altitude can be due to change is atmospheric pressure that can lead to fluid build up inside the ear causing blockage in Eustachian tubes.

Also if the climate was too cold then it can occur after a bout of cold or viral infection as the ear and throat are connected via Eustachian tube..

I would suggest you to consult an Emergency room or an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray, otoscopy etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

You can be advised a course of antibiotics, oral as well as nasal decongestants like Xylometazoline nasal sprays.
Along with it steam inhalation and chewing chewing gum can help..

In case of no improvement in 15 days surgical drainage by making a small incision through the eardrum can help..

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
