What Causes Persistent Vaginal Bleeding After A Cortisone Shot?

Yes, i just turned 60 yrs. old on June 2nd and had my last period over 10 yrs. i got a cortisone shot on may24th of this year in my left knee. And started a period on June3 and is still flowing going on 6 days. Could the cortisone have caused the bleeding? D

Hi,

No, I don't think your persistent vaginal bleeding is due to Cortisone injection in the knee. You had a local (knee) steroid shot. This is unlikely to cause a systemic effect (vaginal bleeding). So better to consult a gynecologist and get a clinical examination and CT scan of the lower abdomen to find out the cause for this bleeding.

You may need a Pap smear or cervical biopsy to rule out malignancy (considering your age).
