What Causes Persistent Throbbing Throat Pain?

my throat has been hurting for almost a year. I am a chronic smoker (pot and cigarettes). My doctor has scoped my trachea and found it to be of a perfect anatomy. He is ruling out cancer until I get a scope of my esophagus. Is there anything else I need to look for with this type of persistent (throbbing) throat pain?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

Regarding your query for persistant throbing pain in throat, though your throat had been examined and every thing was found O.K., as you are a smoker you are worried about cancer.

Here I would like to tell you that your throat pain may be due to-

1- Pharyngitis.

2- Pain due to spondylosis.

3- GERD.

Here I would like to tell you that mild throat pain not necessarly always arises from pharynx and it may arise from extrapharyngeal structure also like muscles of neck and cervical spine as well. Therefore consult your ENT doctor for thorough examination and treatment.
