What Causes Persistent Thirst Even During Sleep?

Hi, lately I have been excessively thirsty. I don’t think my salt intake is any more than before this. All I drink is one cup of coffee in the am , maybe one iced tea, and water. Even before this I drank lots of water. I especially get thirsty when I wake up at night, I have to drink and then I get up to pee, several times a night.

Hello,

Polyuria and Polydipsia are the early symptoms of Diabetes mellitus.

It is better you get your sugars checked, and then you will know what could be the reason for your symptoms. If you sugars are under control, then automatically your symptoms will definitely be reduced.

Get Hba1c test done, also since it is the indicator of glycemic control over past 3 months.

You will have a vague idea of the situation you are in and any antidiabetic regimen prescribed by the nearest practitioner would be taken as the diabetic care.

Care your foot and health hygiene. Eat 6 to 8 meals per day in lesser quantity and do not eat rice more and sugar based products.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
