Hello,

The following are few causes of pain in the ear:
1) Acute suppurative otitis media or middle ear infection
2) Impacted ear wax
3) Eustachian tube dysfunction leading to pressure effects
4) Tooth pain
5) Throat pain or upper respiratory tract infection
6) Shingles

If pain is associated with fever, it indicates infection of ear. Please do contact an ENT specialist for clinical examination and appropriate treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
