Greetings!
Hiccups are involuntary contractions of the diaphragm and it may be caused by a number of conditions. In some cases, damage to central nervous system as a result of head trauma or tumours can affect body's normal control of the hiccup reflex. If hiccups last more than 48 hours or if it causes some other discomforts, it is a matter of concern and it should be further investigated.
