What Causes Persistent Fungal Rash Despite Taking Steroid Injection?

Rash going on 2 mo. Dr thought fungal 1st tx fungal soap. No improvement 2nd tx hydrocortisone oint. No improvement ER Dr felt allergy 3rd tx steroid injection and MDP. Cleared it up, but within wk it was back. Dr thinking internal infect and now on clindamycin 300mg q 6 for a week now. Still not imp. Neg for scabies

Hi... Fungal infections take a long time to get healed. As you have missed to mention the area involved, I would give you a general idea on topical fungal infections.
Topical fungal infections usually take around 4-6 weeks for complete healing with regular topical application of antifungals. Maintaining good hygiene and keeping skin dry is also very important. Steroids usually are effective in short term but once discontinued can flare up the reactions. It is better to avoid steroids in fungal infections until and unless the symptoms are unbearable.
For confirming fungal infections, you need to undergo simple tests like KOH test. If it is indeed fungal infections, then please follow the above advice. Or else other investigations must be done to find out the cause of rash.
