What Causes Persistent Feel Of Fullness And Vomiting While Taking Humira For Psoriatic Arthritis?

Hi,I m on mtx and humira for psoriatic arthritis. Benn struggling for a few weeks with constant feeling of fullness and feeling imminent need to vomit. This is accompanied by a sore abdomen.I had a cholecystectomy 3.5 years back, in which they also removed a number of adhesions, so I m concerned in case the adhesions are perhaps causing an obstruction.Any ideas? Thanks.

Hello,

You have a history of cholecystectomy done 3-5 yrs back. Presently you are on Humira for psoriatic arthritis given by your treating doctor. You are uncomfortable with persistent feel of fullness and vomiting sensation. Your symptoms are indicative of side effects of Humira, stomach fullness, gas with stomach pain, light headedness, nausea or vomiting can occur.

You should get connected to your treating GP and consult about the side effects of Humira that you are experiencing. Also, get a follow up clinical examination done by your surgeon as intestinal adhesions after cholecystectomy are a possible cause of abdominal complaints. You will have to get the required blood tests, investigations and imaging tests done to study the details of the complications post cholecystectomy.

You will be accordingly given conservative treatment or recommended surgery if required. Stay away from addiction if any. Take home made, well cooked food. Avoid spicy, oily food. Take nutritious balanced food. Avoid constipation , stay well hydrated. You can take antacids for relieve from abdominal discomfort and bloating.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
