What Causes Persistent Diarrhea With A String Like Object In Stool?
I have been having very loose stools for the past few days, but that is common when I have been having a lot of dairy. Even though I take a probiotics regularly. What disturbs me most is when I have also seen a very thin, about 2 inch long string like thing on the toilet paper after I wipe. It does not move, and but this is not something I m use to. I have the occasional anal itch, but nothing too terrible. What could be the cause?
Some more information is needed to narrow down the diagnosis. The condition you are suffering may be due to infection or inflammation. If it is due to infection, it may be classified into bacterial or protozoal. Depends on the infective agent, treatment differs. Inflammatory bowel disease is the condition of the intestines which causes dysentery intermittently. IBD is mostly genetic. Visit your Doctor to confirm the cause. Abdominal ultrasonogram, endoscopy may be advised to diagnose the etiology.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
