Hello,
The connection between pregnancy and
peripheral vascular disease has not been established. But
hypertension in pregnancy is a risk factor for peripheral vascular disease much later after pregnancy.
You also may get PAD if you are
overweight or obese, or have hypertension, diabetes, or
high cholesterol. Unhealthy lifestyle choices such as smoking, eating a high-fat diet, and not getting enough exercise lead to PAD.
Beyond intermittent discomfort or pain in the legs or lower extremities (already common in pregnant women), PAD itself typically does not affect pregnancy.
The underlying condition that leads to PAD —
atherosclerosis — can impact pregnancy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
