What Causes Palpitations When Under Severe Stress?

Hi, for the last couple of days I ve been really tensed with work and personal life and since then I think more about it, it feels like I could hear my heart beating. Very uneasy feeling... and now it is very constant. I checked my BP as well, which seems to be ok. Not sure how to deal with this as I am going through a lot these days.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Welcome to HCM.
I understand your concern.
Palpitations could be a complain if there is too much of stress or one of the below mentioned conditions
1-Thyroid disorders
2-Anaemia
3-Stress/Panic attack
4-Anxiety
5-Cardiac conditions(ischaemia/angina)
6-Blood sugar imbalance

Adv-To do some blood investigations-
1-Thyroid function test
2-Blood sugar levels-Fasting and post meals
3-Haemogram
4-ECG

Follow up with these reports to a local physician.
If reports are normal then it is more likely to be related to stress only then meditation, yoga,Breathing exercises and anti anxiety medications might be required.
