What Causes Painful White Centred Red Lump On The Back?

I have what appears a pimple on my back. It is on my right shoulder blade where I can t reach it. It shows a red area about 1 1/2 in in diameter but has not developed a white head. It has been growing for 2 days. It is very painful. Should I go to a doctor?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain pimple on my back on your right shoulder blade where showing a red area that is painful seems to be due to causes like :
-Hair follicle infection or Folliculitis.
-Infected gland in the area.
-Infection over the skin due to bacterial infection..

I would suggest you to consult a General Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can generally be sufficient for the diagnosis..

You can be advised to apply antibiotic and steroid ointment over it..
Apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine if pain is severe..
A course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen can also be advised..
Do cool compresses over it..
Avoid scratching it to prevent the infection to spread..
