What Causes Painful Urination After Radiation For Bladder Cancer?

My brother post radiation for bladder cancer has had painful urination and frequency for past year. Tried hyperbaric o2 TX with no relief. Told it is from urethra, not bladder. UTI free. What else could be cause of male urethral pain. Has been on home peritoneal dialysis since March for kidney failure related to polycrystalline kidney disease.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I think it happens due to damaged cells of mucosa of bladder and uretra. Abdominal dyalisis can help to let the mucosa regenerate.
Let's hope it is recuperable condition.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
