What Causes Painful Pressure In Urethra While Urinating?

I had what felt like blockage in my urethra (maybe 1/2-inch from penis tip) this morning while attempting to urinate. Stream did not start at first, but I felt a painful pressure buildup (where painful = I think I m about to rupture my urethra! ), then stream started suddenly, as though blockage had cleared. Urine looked and smelled normal, but a couple drops of dilute blood emerged immediately afterward. Minor internal stinging (same ~1/2 inch in from tip) off and on since, especially when urinating--feels like the urethral equivalent of a scratched-up throat. I have experienced similar single drop of dilute blood symptom after each urination throughout the day; each time the amount of blood is less. No further difficulty beginning urination. No sign of pus or other discharge. What should I do?

Hi,

As symptoms narrated by you following possibilities are there-
1) Urethritis: infection of urethra.
2) Stone in urethra.
3) Stricure of urethra which may be due to healing of urethra damage by stone or infections

In your case as the problem lasts for only one day, there is no further difficulty in beginning of urination, no pus or discharge and no other symptoms like fever possibility of urethritis or stricure is less likely, possibility of stone is there which may be flushed out (which you may not have been noticed) and hence there is no further difficulty in beginning of urination.

So i will advise you -
1) do urine examination.
2) Ultrasonography of urinary system it will gives information of kidney status, any stone if present its location depending on which we can plan further treatment.
3) If required there may be need of cysto-ureteroscopyscopy it may require if there is stone in lower ureter or in urinary bladder.
I find this answer helpful
