What Causes Painful Lumps At The Nape Of The Neck?
I have two very painful lumps on the back of my neck on the right and left sides at the bottom of my hairline. The lump on the right showed up first and has gotten bigger over the last three days. Should I see a doctor or is there anything I can do to treat them at home.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain painful lumps at the nape of neck that has got bigger in last 3 days can be due to hair follicle infection that is known as Folliculitis.. It can also be carbuncle or a boil..
I would suggest you to consult a General Physician or Dermatologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised to apply a combination of antibiotic and steroid ointments over the lumps.. You can also do cool compresses.. A course of oral antibiotics and anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen can also be advised..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
