What Causes Painful Lump On Neck After A Steroid Shot?

Was Wondering. I Had A Steroid Injection In My Neck Months Ago. They Did It Without Sedation And When He Pulled The Needle Out I Felt A Pulling Sensation That Really Hurt. Now I Have Discovered A Small Painful Lump In My Neck. I Am Insure If This Is The Exact Location Of The Injection But Could THat Cause This Lump? Being Seen For It But Haven t Asked Them That Yet Because I Don t Want To Sound Like I m Accusing Them. My Neck Is Really Sore.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have painful lump on neck after a steroid shot . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query can be due to hair follicle infection that is known as Folliculitis. It can also be carbuncle or a boil or side effects of steroid short . I would suggest you to consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly. You can be advised to apply a combination of antibiotic and steroid ointments over the lumps..
You can also do cool compresses. A course of oral antibiotics and anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen can also be advised. Doctor may also refer you to ENT specialist .
