What Causes Painful Itchy Rashes And Open Sores On The Legs?

On my legs I am getting a red rash- not itchy or painful and small open sores. That start out a little scaly and then turn into a black scab. About the size of a pencil eraser. I only get one sore at a time, it heals and then a new one forms somewhere else on my leg. They take quite a few months to go away entirely but the rash stays. It resembles razor burn after shaving but I haven t shaved.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history you are having eczema, my treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like Fusiderm-b cream on it. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetrizine.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
