What Causes Painful Frequent Urination?

This just started yesterday. Feeling to urinate every hour or more often. Sometimes is painful other not. Catches me off guard if I am not close to the bathroom. Lower back aches, otherwise I feel okay other than tired. Looked on line about kidney stones and kidney infection. I am not sure that fits into what I am experiencing. What do you think?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your problem can be most likely due to Urinary Tract Infection. Urine routine examination will be helpful to rule out this. In case of urinary infection puss cells will be increased.

In such case, I would suggest starting antibiotic empirically. I would suggest Norfloxacin for 7 days for this. A culture and sensitivity test should be done also.

Take plenty of plain water and drinking cranberry juice or barley water is good.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nishad BN
