Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi! I have been on Diane for 6 months and I am having painful left breast for 2 months. After my period, the pain goes away but comes back when I am starting my next pack of Diane. Is it possible if I will shift to another type of contraceptive pills? What would you recommend? Thanks a lot
Breast tenderness is a common side-effect of all the birth control pills because is the estrogen hormone that causes hypersensibility, tenderness or even pain in the breasts.
My advice to you is to consult your treating doctor and discuss with him about trying a different medication. Different brands have different combinations of hormones, and you may tolerate one better than the other.
You can try a hormonal IUD. You may tolerate the steady release of hormones better. Another possible solution for you can be to try a copper, hormone-free IUD. You may be better off without hormonal treatment.
Last advice for you: Switch to condoms. Replace your hormonal birth control with a barrier method. So you will not have the side effects caused by the hormone therapy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
