What Causes Painful And Itchy Bumps On Shoulder Blade?

Two days ago I was waken from sleep by intense itching on shoulder blade. There were three raised pinkish bumps--pencil eraser size-- in a triangle formation. The surrounding skin is reddened in approx 2 x 2 area. The area feel as as if it is hot and with needle pains. I do not have sensation to scratch as I only feel pain in area. Might this be hives
