What Causes Pain Under Rib Cage Along With Shortness Of Breath?
Hello, today I have been suffering from pain like a stitch or cramp on the right side of my body just beneath the ribcage - it seems to have been occuring intermittently throughout the day. At the same time I have been short of breath whilst not exerting myself so keep having to yawn to get plenty of air in. It doesn t seem to be going away. I feel fine in myself apart from that and am generally a fit and healthy 41 year old who does plenty of exercise and leads a health conscious life. What do you think may be the problem?
I read your question carefully and understand your concern.
Your symptoms seem to be related to a muscular disorder, maybe a muscular contraction. It typically produced pain in this part of the body, and difficulty breathing, because of difficulty in opening the chest during inspiration.
If the pain persists I recommend you to consult with the GP and perform a routine blood test for infection and an abdominal ultrasound and a chest xray to exclude other causes.
Hope to have been helpful!
Greetings! Dr. Aida
