What Causes Pain Under Left Chest Side While Taking Deep Breaths?

Hello my name is Tiffany and I m only 18. I do smoke and I have been for 4 years now. Now This is the second time this has happened and the other one wasn t to long ago. But I can take short little breaths but when I try to take a bigger breath the lest side under my chest tends to get a sharp pain. Im not sure that braking my ribs has anything to do with it because that was some time ago now

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Since you are smoker we need to rule out lung infection and bronchitis because both can cause chest pain.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system
2. PFT (Pulmonary Function Test)
3. Chest x ray.
PFT is must for the diagnosis of bronchitis.
Chest x ray is needed to rule lung infection.
You should quit smoking as soon as possible.
You may need antibiotic, inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) according to the reports.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
