What Causes Pain On The Upper Right Thigh?

I am having a pain in the outer side of my upper right thigh. The pain seems to run at an angle from a point just above and to the right of my knee up the outer side of the thigh and into the center of my right buttock. It is slightly tender to the touch almost all of the time but becomes severe if I walk on it for a period of time more than about 15 min. Some movement doesn t seem to hurt hardly at all but other types of movement cause severe pain. This all started about three weeks ago but got worse the last 10 days. I also have been diagnosed with fybromyalgia. The spot the pain runs to in my buttock is in a spot I consider to be a trigger spot.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a neuropathic pain like sciatica.
As first-line management, you can take drugs like gabapentin for pain relief.
If symptoms persist you can consult a neurologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
