What Causes Pain In The Veins Of The Wrist Post A Blood Donation?
I donated blood two days ago. I have donated before no problems. However, this time, when they first inserted the needle, my blood moved very slowly and it took several seconds for the blood to get through the tube to the bag. It was somewhat painful when the needle was inserted but went away and giving blood was fine. Now however, what I can only assume are the veins in my wrist hurt and ache all day. Shooting pain goes up my forearm from my wrist to my elbow when I clap, grip something, or use any force at all with that hand. I'm just wondering what this could be and how serious it is. I'm a 23yo female, 130lbs, 5'6", with no significant medical history (no allergies, no history of surgeries, etc.).

During puncture if the vein, some blood may ooze out of vein ii the surrounding area, while is irritant to the vessel wall and there may be some degree of inflammation causing pain along the course of vessel wall.
