What Causes Pain In The Vagina While Inserting A Tampon?

Ive been using tampons for a while now but just now when I tried to put on in it hurt. I showered, put a tampon in, went to bed then shortly after removed it to have intercourse with my boyfriend (it did not hurt at all coming out) we had intercourse with no protection and he did ejaculate in me. Then afterwords I went to the restroom to clear as much as I can. I sat around for a bit letting my body drain itself of his fluid and this time when I went to put a tampon it, it hurt. It was as if I was being scraped from the tip of the tampon. So I try a smaller size and same thing. I m concerned because I ve never had this sensation before. It doesn t hurt unless I try and out in a tampon.

Hello,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I have read your question fully and understand your concerns.

I suspect some minor trauma may have occurred during intercourse, and that area is raw and hence more sensitive when you are inserting your tampon. Is it possible for you to wear sanitary pads for a few days until the minor wound heals by itself? During this time, you could also watch for your symptoms – if the pain persists, if you start to have vaginal itching or any vaginal discharge etc, it is most likely that it could a vaginal infection. When there is vaginal infection, the insides of the vagina are also sore. Kindly avoid any vaginal douches.

I hope this answer has helped you.

Thank you
