What Causes Pain In The Vagina After Intercourse?

I have been with my boyfriend almost 4 years. At first we used to have sex all the time (no pain). For about a year now I have been struggling with painful sex that it s got to the point that we have not had it in about 3 months. It s at the point where I am unable to even insert a tampon. I get really sore and feel as if it will tear if I even try.. What could be causing this..

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to minor mucosal injury during intercourse. Nothing much to worry and it will settle by itself.

As a first-line management you can take over the counter analgesics like paracetamol for pain relief. Avoid intercourse for few days will be better.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
