What Causes Pain In The Upper Abdomen On The Right Side?
Periodic pain in upper abdomen on the right side. Not constant, not muscular. Over a period of 6 or 7 years off and on. Have complained about it to doctor and had ultrasound. However, no findings. Went to Emory Saint Joseph two days ago because now that same pain also includes back pain on the same side. Nevertheless, received a CT scan, which was all clear. Send home with pain pills. It seems useless to take pain pills for something that has not been diagnosed. I have not gotten the prescription filled as of yet because it will only mask the problem. It almost feels like flu symptom with tired body occasional gut pain and back pain. Confused - I figure maybe its viral or something. All labs are clean. I am 57 years old. I take no meds and have no medical problems. I walk and get to the gym as much as possible but not lately. Thanks

What Causes Pain In The Upper Abdomen On The Right Side?
Hello, We have to rule out possible causes like renal stone and appendicitis. As first-line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist better to consult a general surgeon and plan for an ultrasound scan. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
