What Causes Pain In The Shoulder Blade After A Heart Attack?

I recently had a heart attack and had 5 stints put in. Ever since I left the hospital, my upper back around my left shoulder blade hurts almost all of the time except when I lay down or have a good chair to sit in. When I am standing it only takes about 4 to 5 min. before it starts hurting and gets worse the longer I stand.

Hello,

This is related to abnormal posture and as you had a cardiac arrest I can imagine the age of you above 50. So there will be some Degenerative changes in the cervical spine leading to pain. Also the spine of scapula pains due to inflammation at the insertion of the Trapezius muscle due to spasm of it. Needs a release of it from the MFR. Doing a guided exercises program helps to ease the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
