What Causes Pain In The Right Testicle?

I have pain in my right testicle and there is inflammation on my right side below my stomach and above my penis (groin area?) The pain comes and goes, but it is occasionally very sharp, to the point where I woke up in the middle of the night two nights ago and could not get back to sleep. I am at the age where testicular cancer is more common, and it may be a hernia, but my brother told me to consult webmd to see if you could provide any information regarding how i should proceed. Thank you for your response in advance.

Hi, thanks for your query on Healthcare Magic.

I understand your concern. Before knowing what happens to you, I need more information and a direct examination will also be needed to determine the condition of your testicle and the organs around it.

In addition to the pain symptoms you complain about, are there:
- History of trauma or injury in the genital area?
- A lump on the surface of the testes or swelling overall, either on one or both?
- Redness or burning sensation in the testicular area (testicles)?

Pain in the testicle (Orchialgia) can be caused by several things, including history of trauma, infection, surgery, torsio testis (rotation of the sperm channel), hernia.
1. Trauma / injury to the testicle usually causes pain for a moment, but depends on the type and severity of trauma.
2. Testicular torsion usually causes severe sudden pain accompanied by redness and swelling of the scrotum. Testicular torsion is an emergency condition and usually requires surgical intervention.
3. Infections, such as epididymitis, infection of the testicular epididymal layer. Most are caused by sexually transmitted infections, including chlamydia and gonorrhea. Symptoms of pain are gradual, with redness and swelling in the scrotum. Other symptoms associated with epididymitis include nausea, vomiting, fever, painful urination, and pain during intercourse. The main therapy is the administration of antibiotics. Epididymitis can cause orchitis (inflammation of the testicle) if left untreated and can cause severe pain.

We recommend to checking your issue to Urologist. The doctor will perform a palpation examination (palpation with the fingers). This check is confirmed with the side that is not sick. Then the patient will be checked in a supine sleeping state, whether the elevation (elevation) of the testicle will increase the pain.

If necessary the doctor wills suggest more tests such as blood tests, ultrasound, biopsy and so on. Thus proper handling will be provided.

Some tips for you:
1. When the pain is disturbing you can take ibuprofen or acetaminophen to relieve the pain.
2. It is recommended to use a scrotum protector when exercising or other activities to avoid the occurrence of a crunch on vital organs.

Hope this helps,
Take care
