I am having pain in the right side of my upper shoulder where my shoulder attaches to my neck. I first thought it was just a crick and that I had slept on it wrong but it comes and goes and has continued for over a month. Sometimes it feels better with heat and sometimes with ice. It feels like a muscle is pinched. Is there anything I can do to ease this pain? Thanks. Betti English
I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your neck pain.
According to your history it seems to posture related muscle spasm, that can be painful for some time a day and normal to other. This problem can be because of particular work like watching TV daily from a particular place, reading in same posture for long time, office work constant position posture. In this case you need to isolate the cause and work on it.
In case pain is radiating to arm associated with tingling sensations or numbness in arm, hand or fingures it can be spondylitis too. You need to restrict the neck movements, lover your pillow during night hours and can also use muscle relaxants like Thiochochicene etc.
