What Causes Pain In The Neck And Shoulders After A Surgical Abortion?

I have had a surgical abortion at 14 weeks as the baby would not have survived outside the womb. One week on, I have severe neck and shoulder pain, feeling faint with a slight fever and feeling flu like. As I have been through IVF and I have had a lot of procedures,I asked for antibiotics so doubt very much that I have an infection. I have rung my surgery for a follow up scan but the surgeon said it was a standard procedure and no need for a follow up!

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, it can be acute upper respiratory tract infection episode and can present like this. OTC analgesics like Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be used however anti-histamines like Cetrizine may also be needed.

Saline water gargles and steam inhalations can help. If fever spikes persists antibiotics like Azithromycin or Moxyfloxacin may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
