What Causes Pain In The Lower Back And Green Vaginal Discharge?

Hello, I have an extensive history of pelvic issues that started 11 years ago with a termination. Before this I was fine after I had pelvic pain/lower back pain/green discharge and pain at the cervix with intercourse. I have since managed to have three healthy children having intercourse only a handful of times as it is too painful. I have also had a ruptured eptopic. I have had a laparoscopy with adhesion and scar tissue removed and confirmed erosion of the cervix. I have been successfully treated with antibiotics but unfortunately all symptoms returned after I completed which my dr linked to the Mirena I had in harboring bacteria. I have since had that removed but unfortunately all swabs etc comeback negative and no dr will treat me with antibiotics.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Green discharge is sign of Trichomonas Vaginalis which is not necessary a sexually transmitted infection, but can be transmitted like that as well. So my recommendations would be that you do a swab to check for it, and also consider doing a STI testing as well (Chlamydia and Gonorrhea).

One other advise would also be to not use detergents for vaginal washing, because they may change the normal bacterial balance which may predispose the growing of other bacteria. If the test for Trichomonas is positive, then you may need to take Metronidazole, which is an antibiotic and you may need a prescription for it.

The fact that your husband is not circumcised, does not predispose you of having infections.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein,
